Travel Girls Squirt-Bantam
NCMYH intends to roster additional Girls' Travel teams in the Middlesex Yankee Girls Hockey League (MYGHL). The season will start in early September and will include about 25 games, concluding in March/early April.
USA Hockey registration/renewal for 2026-2027 is required prior to start of the season. No exceptions.
A typical week consists of 2 practices and a game. The league publishes the game schedule monthly and typically posts it a month in advance.
Ages
Squirt (Ages 9-10):
- Birth years 2016 & 2017
- Focus on fundamental skills development: skating, passing, shooting, and puck handling.
- Introduction to basic team strategies and positioning.
- Participation in local and regional tournaments to gain game experience.
- Emphasis on sportsmanship, discipline, and fostering a love for the game.
Peewee (Ages 11-12):
- Birth years 2014 & 2015
- Continued skill development with a focus on refining techniques.
- Introduction to more advanced team tactics and systems.
- Increased competition through participation in more competitive leagues and tournaments.
- Emphasis on physical conditioning and mental preparation.
Bantam (Ages 13-14):
- Birth years 2012 & 2013
- Further refinement of skills with an emphasis on speed, strength, and agility.
- Advanced tactical training, including power plays, penalty kills, and situational play.
- Participation in highly competitive leagues and tournaments at regional and potentially national levels.
- Preparation for potential higher-level play, such as junior hockey or high school varsity teams.
When
Games start in early September and run through late March/early April.
Games
Approximately 25 games per season.
Games are played in the Middlesex Yankee Girls Hockey League (MYGHL).
Practices
Practices are held at Gardner's Veterans Arena, Cushing Academy's Iorio Arena, or the Winchendon School.
Jerseys
For our Travel Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam players, there are specific requirements regarding jerseys and socks:
Jerseys: Players must have both a black and white jersey.
Socks: Black and white socks will be provided before the start of the season. The cost of socks is covered by player tuition.
If you are new to our program or need a replacement jersey(s), you can do so during the player offer process.
Information regarding jersey fitting will be posted and emailed.
