U18 WINTER MIDGET SEASON BOYS/GIRLS

Sting Youth Hockey is exploring possibly organizing a winter boys' & girls' midget team(s). We have opened a registration page to gauge interest and determine the number of players interested in participating. Registering now is just registering as "I am interested."

The season would take place during the same time as the high school hockey season and would be part of the Valley League (boys midgets), with games starting in December. A girls' team is possible if enough girls are interested; the league is TBD.

We know that some local players may not have a high school team, have been cut from their team, have aged out of the JV League, do not plan on playing for a high school team, or want more ice time. This winter midget season would allow them to continue playing hockey.

We must provide the Valley Hockey League (VHL) team(s) commitment by November 30th. We understand that November 30th might not give players and their families enough time to assess their standing with their high school team before committing. Again, registration at this time is ONLY to gauge interest and determine the number of players.

Practices for the winter midget season will be held once or twice a week at one of our three local rinks: Gardner, Cushing, or Winchendon. Games 18 will be scheduled at various Valley League rinks and can occur on Friday nights, Saturdays, or Sundays. Each game consists of three 12-minute periods, and the season runs until playoffs in late March, aligning with the rest of the Valley League schedule. The cost for participation would be $800 (skaters) and $400 (goalies). Each team is expected to have a maximum of 15 skaters and two goalies.

Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first 15 skaters and two goalies being accepted onto the team. Any registrations received after filling these spots will be placed on a waitlist. A second team may be formed if enough interest and coaches are available. An evaluation process will determine team placement in such a case.

If you are interested in participating in this winter midget season, please register to be added to our list and receive updates as we develop the plans.
